Since 2015 it has been a requirement to install a CO alarm in any room containing a solid fuel burning combustion appliance such as a coal or wood burning stove. As of the 1st of October 2022, the requirements for CO alarms was extended to all rooms containing a fixed combustion appliance of any type. Where landlords fail to comply, fines can be issued up to the value of £5000.
